Four Club Challenge @ Welton - THE RESULTS

It's been a great day playing the Four Club Challenge at Welton, and it was great to see Horncastle turn up, unannounced, to take part in the event.

The match has been played in glorious October sunshine, albeit a bit breezy. Despite the warm weather, the highest score today was 37 by one of the (ahem...bandit) Welton lads. This goes to show that scoring was tough today, but in spite of the wind the course certainly played very well.

Ultimately, the game was played in the right spirit and it seemed everyone had a great time.

Well done to Baz, who shot the best score for Pottergate with 34 points. He's been getting a reputation of never leaving Welton empty handed, and today was no exception as he collected a bottle of fizz for the best PG score.

It was great to see Spud (the founder of this competition) there to hand out the trophy to the winning team.

As the results came in it was neck and neck for the first part, but as we got towards the end it became a fight between Carholme and Welton. Victory was clinched after the last group, with Welton winning by only two points!

As Carholme came second, they will be hosting the competition next year. We will keep you posted with more details when we find out.

Finally, I want to give a big thank you for all the players who came out today and a thank you to Captain Micky Luff, who elected to go out last to make sure everyone got off ok.

There is a posibility of a winter fixture at Carholme, possibly November. If this materialises we will keep you posted. It certainly looks likely that we will get friendly fixtures against them next year which is great news.
