Junior Section

In 2017 the junior section is again a strong part of the club with a good group of boys and girls taking part, not only in Junior events but also doing very well in main club competitions, as well as representing the Club in A team & B team matches.

This years Junior Captain Sam Blow is focused on the Junior Section becoming part of the Lincolnshire Junior League in 2017 as well as holding Junior inter club competitions.

The final league match took place on Monday 14th August, with our team beating a strong side from Woodhall Spa. We ran out 2 to 1 winners with Jake Kirkby again playing two low handicappers, but this time he won 2&1. Isaac Holden and Nathan Hole lost a very tight match 1 down and Will Day and Cam Giles ran out winners 2&1.

The team have performed extremely well this year and given the absentees due to other commitments have achieved some great results.

The latest match took place at Torksey on Sunday 6th August, with only 5 juniors available, Jake Kirkby again led the team admirably with support from Isaac Holden, Nathan Hole, Will Day and Alex Broderick. The team had to give shots in all matches and the overall result was a loss 2 to 1, this does not reflect the great play shown by all of the players. It was great to see how our younger and less experienced players adapted to the tricky course. The future looks bright with the up and coming players.

A depleted juniors side travelled to Woodhall Spa to play their latest league fixture. It was a great effort by the 4 who represented us, Jake Kirkby, Isaac Holden, Jack Somers-Wells and Will Day. We lost the match 3 to 0 but this does not reflect how well they played.  They all gained valuable experience on a wonderful course.

The juniors latest league fixture saw them playing Lincoln golf club at Pottergate, the team managed to achieve a  2 to 1 victory, which is great news for the league position. We had a young side with a few regulars missing and I was pleased with the way the whole team conducted themselves. We now have three fixtures left and hopefully we will continue show how good our youngsters are.

Leagues at 11/07/17

P W L D For  Against Points
Woodhall 4 3 1 0 8 4 6
Gainsborough 6 3 3 0 9.5 8.5 6
Pottergate 3 2 1 0 5 4 4
Lincoln 5 1 0 4 4.5 10.5 2

The Junior team has now played two league fixtures with a home win and away defeat to Gainsborough. Both games were played in great spirit and we have managed to play reserves in both matches which has given them valuable experience for the future.

The juniors are all playing well, with many of them now lowering their handicaps.
